A HIA for submission with an application for a single self build property in Cringleford.

Issues

The clients identified pre-application that a Heritage assessment would be required for submission with the proposed planning application as a validation requirement due to the building being within a conservation area and within the grounds of a listed building.

Solution

East Anglian Heritage undertook writing a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) of the site outlining the benefits of the project over any potential harm to the heritage assets. This required identifying the elements of the setting of a number of listed building which contributed to the significance of the heritage assets, this included identifying the historical relationship between Cringleford and the Liberty of Norwich. Which aided in the HIA noting that for many of the listed building the proposed development would not impact on the important features of their setting which aid in understanding there signifiance as heritgae assests.

Outcomes

The HIA was submitted by the client of a planning application.
