A HIA for a Submission of conversion of 4.no Barns into 6 residential units at Rackheath.
Issues
Ahead of a planning application for the conversion of 4no. Historical Barns into 6 dwelling unit, set within a Landscape Park and associated Listed and non-designated heritgae assets, the client commisioned East Anglian Heritage to undertake a Heritage Impact Assessment.
Solution
East Anglian Heritage undertook the intial survey of the 4no. Historic Barns, which through the use of documentary evidence built up an assessment of the heritage value of the barns in question in relation to, the Landscape Park, the Listed Building within the Landscape Park, the non-designated heritage assets and the barns themselves.
The study identified the important features of the barns and how they contribute to the settings of the local heritage assets in question, including an analysis of the development phases of the barns in question.
This research was then compiled into an autoreactive Historic Environment Assessment of the potential impacts that the proposed conversion could have upon the heritage assets in question.
Outcomes
The HIA and supportive letter was submitted by the client of a planning application.
